I recently picked up “The Kind Worth Killing” by Peter Swanson after being in a reading slump for a few days. I was craving a mystery thriller with a twist that would jolt me out of my funk, something akin to the mind-bending plots of “The Silent Patient” and “Gone Girl.” Based on recommendations, I dove into Swanson’s novel with high hopes.
However, I found myself underwhelmed. Sure, there were some surprising moments, particularly the revelation about Miranda and Lily, but it didn’t quite have the punch I was expecting
When it came to the big twist and the ending, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. It seemed rather predictable and left me wanting more.
Has anyone else felt the same way about “The Kind Worth Killing”? Did you find the ending lackluster, or did the twists live up to your expectations?( I honestly couldn’t see any worthy twists).
Moreover, I’m on the hunt for a new read that will truly blow my mind with its twists and turns. Do you have any recommendations for mystery thrillers that deliver on the promise of keeping readers guessing until the very end? I’m eager to hear your suggestions and dive into my next gripping read!

I find this happens a lot with books that are highly recommended, I go in with big expectations and inevitably I am disappointed. It happens with thriller a lot because I find myself really trying to figure it out because I know it’s supposed to be amazing, so when the twist comes, it’s never that surprising.
I find the thrillers I love the most are the ones I read going in blind. Which doesn’t help much here, on Suggest Me a Book.
But I will always and forever recommend I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh. If you haven’t read it, I think it’s one of the best!
I just finished listening to Lying in Wait by Liz Nugent and really enjoyed it. I think the narration added something special, so I’m not sure how it would read on a page, but yeah, I did enjoy it.
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier was another surprise, tired of being disappointed by the books I was choosing I randomly found this recommended for someone, it was available in my library so I got it. I really enjoyed it and then read My Cousin Rachel too, very much enjoyed that also.
The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne isn’t a thriller but I really enjoyed it, maybe a change would appeal.
The Kind Worth Killing was OK, I lost interest in it but did finish it. If there were twists I don’t remember them. I didn’t follow the series, and I love a good series.
