All the Thursday Murder Club books
The ‘Her Majesty the Queen Investigates’ murder mysteries
British / plucky girl detective / maybe cozy? murder mysteries in general
DOES NOT like
sci-fi/supernatural elements (so no Chronicles of St. Mary’s, no Beaufort Scales, no Discworld 🙁 )
and is an avid reader who loves long series so I think she’s already caught up on the Maisie Dobbs series.

Thank you!

I’d recommend the Agatha Raisin or Hamish Macbeth series by M. C. Beaton.
A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder sounds like exactly what you’re looking for!! It’s a murder mystery that takes place in the UK with a plucky girl detective who just can’t leave stuff alone!
Flavia de Luce series
Mary Russell series
Magpie Murders
*Phryne Fisher* books
How about the CJ Sansom books? He’s just passed away and he wrote tudor-era murder mysteries
Try Susan Elia MacNeal or Jacqueline Winspear they both have series with female detectives set in England that could be considered plucky.
Opps: just realized they already read Maisie Dobbs. Maggie Hope by MacNeal is similar to Maisie Dobbs
Oh, I totally have the answer to this one! Her Royal Spyness. Minor british royal solves crimes in 1930s England. It’s a fun cozy series.
Diary of a Provincial Lady (comedy)
If they’re ok with a cozy mystery series, the Lady Hardcastle mysteries by T.E. Kinsey are absolutely lovely! The first is called A Quiet Life in the Country. It’s set in the early 1900’s in the English countryside and follows the widowed Lady Hardcastle and her lady’s maid Flo as they help local police solve murders. Both are plucky, funny, and their friendship is such a joy.
The five minute Sherlock series by drew Hayes are non-supernatural but are fantastically well written
The Marlow Murder Club by Robert Thorogood, the Miss Marple books by Agatha Christie if she hasn’t read them
Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny; Kopp Sisters series by Amy Stewart
I’d recommend The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith!
They are pretty fun but gentle
And if they like historical murder mysteries, I’d recommend either The Cadfael Chronicles by Ellis Peters or anything by Paul Doherty-he’s written in loads of different time periods
The Appeal by Janice Hallett is just what you’re looking for.
