I’ve been reading the non-fiction book, Exoplanets by Michael Summers and James Trefil, and they mentioned about how a subsurface ocean civilization that lived underneath thick layers of ice and having never seen stars would be ‘a great subject for science fiction’. This got me thinking if there were any books about something like this? A subsurface ocean civilization on a different planet and/or galaxy who is not aware of anything outside of the ice layers that they live under.

There’s a popular book series that has this in it but I’m not sure if even revealing the title would be a spoiler because it’s quite far through the series. It’s a big part of the overall plot (and enjoyment of the book imo) but takes up maybe less than 10 chapters in one of the books, from the perspective of what I think you’re looking for.
Sorry I can’t think of a better way to word this without spoilers, if you’d like me to give more info, let me know what you’re comfortable with and I’ll add something else with spoilers tags.
