Hi all. I saw the post asking for suggestions for 9th graders, and it dawned on me: I should ask for my 10th graders!
I teach 10th grade English with a curriculum focused on American Literature.
Some of the texts we worked with this year: American Born Chinese, Of Mice and Men, and Fahrenheit 451. Most of the kids loved Of Mice and Men and American Born Chinese. For the most part, the honors kids really liked Fahrenheit 45. It was routinely despised by the other groups because of the language.
Anyway, my grade level partner and I are looking for texts to use that might garner the level of interest that Of Mice and Men and American Born Chinese received. One text that popped up is Sula by Toni Morrison.
