Getting ready to go on a vacation that should have some stretches of relaxing time in nature where I can hang around reading. It’s been a stressful year so I would adore suggestions for some super relaxing/enjoyable books to load on my kindle. A lot of my recent most loved books have come from this forum.
Things I like and would qualify as relaxing and/or enjoyable vacation reads:
Fantasy genre — I adore Naomi novik, T Kingfisher, Robin Hobb, the Magicians series. Recently read Legends and Lattes and the Innkeepers Chronicles, both of which would have been a good level of fun and easy on the brain.
Books about plagues/apocalypse, of the real or magical variety— nothing too grim dark, but something like Station 11, Light Pirate, or Tale of the Unnamed Midwife.
General fiction — I’m a huge Anglophile, also tend to love books at in India. Not looking for anything super heavy. Some that I’ve read recently that could fit the bill are Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows, Demon Copperhead, Remarkably Bright Creatures, Cassandra in Reverse.
Mystery — I’m into some cozy or classic mystery, preferably British/historic. I tend not to not enjoy suspense.
Sci fi – I typically prefer fantasy over sci fi but do enjoy some. I liked project Hail Mary.
Romance: straight romance genre tends to not hold my attention as much but it’s fine as a component of the book.
