I feel like one thing trauma took from me was reading. Every book I pick up seems to be about the ‘perfect’ couple/family and the hidden secret of domestic violence. I end up discouraged and haven’t read any fiction in multiple years.
I like stories with a lot of character development and various perspectives of the same situation(s). The Post Birthday World by Lionel Shriver is one of my favourites. I also used to love memoirs, but those can also end up with a lot of violence and abuse.
Suggestions of fiction without abuse/violence as either character development or the major plot of the book?
