Here is the criteria, and a “thank you” in advance!

2) Protagonist is not depressed or facing an enormous problem
3) Plot concerns nothing really serious

Two books by Joshua Ferris; he is a great storyteller who is wildly funny. Then We Came to the End and To Rise Again at a Decent Hour.
Here is an excerpt for Then We Came to the End: [link to excerpt](https://www.bookbrowse.com/excerpts/index.cfm/book_number/1959/then-we-came-to-the-end)
Edited to add: this funny book is about a struggling ad agency in the wake of the internet boom.
