Read around the world challenge: what books should I read? I’d love suggestions!!

I’ve decided that I need to expose myself to different literary traditions and stories, so I’ve embarked on the “reading around the world challenge” but I find the suggested reading lists I find to be quite dull or outdated. I’d love to know your suggestions.

I don’t need any books from the following countries because I’ve already checked them off the list (I’ll add the books for anyone curious):
