My son is an advanced reader and has recently started getting into novels. He’s read most of the Roald Dahl catalog, the Little Prince, and just recently finished Paddington. He’s finished each of these books in under a day, so maybe something longer or a series?
Up to this point we’ve kept his appetite under control with lots of reference books (Encyclopedias about space, earth, animals, science, etc.) but I think he could really benefit from books that are more story-driven. Vocabulary is a non-issue for him; he only need see a word’s definition once to remember it. But he is 6 and there are many themes that he either does not understand or are inappropriate, so looking for (m)any recommendations, please.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions anyone can offer.

Swallows and Amazons series?
The Narnia books
Charlottes Web
The Dark is Rising series
These are old books I’m afraid, though my own kids loved S&A.
Diana Wynne Jones, *Dogsbody* – I think he will love this one! I also think he would enjoy *Power of Three* by the same author.
ETA: Oops, maybe check these out first…there may be elements that are too dark that I’m not remembering offhand. I know Dahl can be dark too though, so it all depends on what would be right for your kiddo.
The Wild Robot books are good
