I know it’s a weird ask. I am looking for any books or texts (or documentaries) that can help the reader empathize with poor American white families. And help create more patience for the families who may unintentionally neglect their children (because of class) or may not be aware that they are hindering their own child.
The reader is a middle class, accomplished person of color in a coaching/mentorship program who wants to help beyond donations, but gets disgusted at lack of hygiene or aggressive behavior from young kids. I think they are getting too caught up in blaming the parents and can benefit from looking at them from a place of empathy.
