Hey. My 12 year old daughter has recently got into LOTR. She’s an avid reader and I wanted to get her something fantasy but a little silly, so was thinking Terry Pratchett.
Do you think that’s a good call? Is there a book that’s a good starting point?

The Tiffany Aching series is classed as YA. Wee Free Men is the first in that series and is thoroughly enjoyable
Terry Pratchett is an amazing author and suitable for children. However several of the Discworld books are actually classified as YA, so that might be a good place to start. They’re the Tiffany Aching books. The first is The Wee Free Men.
The Tiffany Aching books might be a great choice for her, the main character is a precocious preteen. It’s certainly as accessible as LOTR (I also read those at her age, wish I had been exposed to Pratchett then!) If she enjoys them, there’s a whole wide Discworld to keep on reading 🙂
Edit to include the books in order.
1. The Wee Free Men
2. A Hat Full Of Sky
3. Wintersmith
4. I Shall Wear Midnight
5. The Shepherd’s Crown
