After watching many videos and bit looking around. I have come across few series. I have listed the books below. They are not in any order.

    1. The Witcher
    2. The Lord Of the Rings
    3. Lightbringer Series
    4. The StormLight Archive
    5. The Wheel Of Time
    6. Malazan

Which one should I put time to invest into? I am not looking for slowest or fastest pace either. More like balanced pace. Keeps me engaged without being non stop action or being too slow.

**Background:** I am a bit slow reader. I have mostly read horror genre and a bit of Sci-Fi. Mostly Michael Crichton’s books, one from Matthew Riley (not read yet, still finishing my Michael Crichton’s book). The exorcist etc. So Fantasy would be new experience that I can’t wait for.

Loved the Both Witcher and Lord Of The Rings shows and movies. Witcher was good till, damn Netflix decided to Remove Henry Cavil.

I am looking to buy the whole series. I have mostly bought hardcover and I like hardcover (Used and Few were New). I only read few paperback (Used Ones) and didn’t like the page quality at all or see through pages. Now, I do see there are different kind of paperbacks. Mass market, trade paperback etc. Now I understand this can get pricy really fast. Should I buy new paperback to ensure good quality pages or just buy hardcover (Used or NEW) and it will be worth the price? (Maybe New If I really like it).

Right now, buying from Ebay and Thriftbooks. Are these the only place? Let me where you buy your books.

Feel Free to Drop your own suggestions and ask me anything if you need more info to tailor the books.

Honestly, you’ve listen some real big books. As much as I love many of them, I wouldn’t put them as a starting point for a slow reader’s first foray into fantasy. They’re also big books in big series.

I think *The Lord of the Rings* is probably the best shout – it’s an established and beloved classic for a reason. You may wish you start on *The Hobbit* though as, again, it’s shorter and a single book entry point.

If you have a local library start there. Check out the first books in the series at least before investing in an entire hard copy set. Reader tastes vary, so while all of us strangers can suggest our favorite from the choices you’ve presented there’s no guarantee you’ll agree.

I love the Lord of the Rings and the Wheel of Time. Both are pretty serious and WOT is 14 volumes and each is long. If you are looking for something more casual and funny Dungeon Crawler Carl is marvelous.

    4. Start with Lord of The Rings. It may start out a *little* bit slow but this is the classic. For the time it was written, it holds up very well. This is your “bicycle”. You learn to ride with this and when you think you’ve mastered it, you remove the training wheels.

The Witcher books are fairly quick reads. They’re not terrible, I lost some interest after the two collections of short stories. I made it two more books after that.

The Wheel of Time is a 15 book series. Fair warning, it *can* be a slog.

I would put Stormlight Archive at the (or near the) end of your list because each book is over 1000 pages. If you’re a slow reader, it’s going to take quite some time to get through them…

I have not tried to read Malazan, yet. It’s a 10 book series encompassing a globe (I believe, as I’ve said, I have not read it yet.)

I also have not really started reading Lightbringer.
