I spent yesterday on and off reading “Shark Heart, A Love Story” by Emily Habeck and really enjoyed the story telling. The subtleness of the magical realism even though it’s a major theme and how the mutation is written as the antagonist is well done. At times I forgot that the mutation wasn’t a metaphor for how a characters personality changes but a true change to the character both physically and mentally, it was woven so well into the story telling it felt… normal. The ending was bittersweet and I teared up at times.
Overall a wonderful, and somewhat quick, read.
