My Dark Placed by James Ellroy is pretty good. Ellroy is a crime fiction writer who’s mother was murdered, so he decided to write about it.
For non-murdery crime memoirs, you have Grand Theft by Bill Mason (jewel thief) and Catch Me If You Can by Frank Abagnale (con artist, although he also exaggerates in his own book).
Overworld by Larry Kolb is not exactly what you are looking for but you should read it anyway. Kolb was, for a while, part of Muhammad Ali’s entourage, while also an American asset.
