**Background** *(skippable)***:** Sometimes I get a craving for a certain type of book only to find that it doesn’t exist or is extremely rare, even though it feels like it must be a thing (e.g. All Quiet on the Western Front, but with magic, or a medieval inspired fantasy world, but with no magic, mythical creatures, or supernatural elements at all).
**Recommendation Request** *(TL;DR)***:** I’m looking for your recommendations of books that seem to be in a genre or subgenre of their own, but that you love and hope that one day will become more widely written and read.
**Please Read:** Bonus points if you coin a term for your niche genre or subgenre. And if you can mention why you think it’s unique or in small company, that would be great — rather than just leaving a book title.
Thank you in advance, and in case it didn’t go without saying. I’m looking for a variety of genres to try out, so that’s why I’m not going into my preferences.
