On economics, one book among many that has always stuck with me is Adam Tooze, The Wages of Destruction: The Making and Breaking of the Nazi Economy. It’s a fascinating (and superbly well researched) analysis of the economics and economic policy of Nazi Germany, and its role in decision making and war. Obviously WW2 is written about ad nauseam but this was a fresh and brilliantly insightful perspective on the Second World War. Not to mention it’s fascinating just how dysfunctional the Nazi economy was.
