Memorial Day is almost upon us. I usually head to the local Barnes and Noble to buy the book that everybody is going to be reading this summer. Think 2004 and The DaVinci Code or 2011 The Help. I’m a teacher, so I have lots of time to read over the summer.

If you are a teacher why not read quality fiction instead of trash (DaVinci Code) or pablum (The Help)? It is your responsibility not to fall prey to pop culture nonsense, you have failed
Yay for Books of the Summer! I think TJ Klune’s The House in the Cerulean Sea is still very popular and the sequel is coming out this summer!
Tom Lake by Ann Patchett is also still going strong and is a summery read.
I’m personally looking forward to The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman but I don’t think it’s coming out until July.
The Women by Kristin Hannah is far and away the most requested title in my library system at present, rivaling the requests for those you mentioned in their day.
I’m doubling down: you are a teacher and this is the shit you read?
Home Is Where The Bodies Are by Jenna Rose has been all over the place. So far it’s a great little summer thriller
Covenant of Water.
Long but totally worth your time. It is a beautifully written book with an amazing ending.
