I have a friend being deployed to Alaska for a work assignment this summer. He won’t have access to cell phone or internet service, and he mentioned to me that he is looking forward to this and wants to use it as time to get back into reading.
I would like to grab him some books for his care package that involve Alaska. Any suggestions would be helpful! He says he enjoys all genres, but it has been a while since he has picked up a book.
Thank you!

*Heroes of the Frontier* by Dave Eggers
A couple of oldies-but-goodies:
James Michener, *Alaska*
John McPhee, *Coming into the Country*
Jon Krakauer’s *Into the Wild* is justifiably famous too.
Drop city, By T.C. Boyle
Ordinary Wolves by Seth Kantner, a coming of age story about a boy raised in a sod igloo in Alaska.
