As a huge fan of all of David Mitchell’s books and the common threads and themes that he weaves among them I’m wondering if anyone can suggest authors similar?
I particularly love Cloud Atlas and The Bone Clocks.
Anthony Doerr, especially Cloud Cuckoo Land. All The Light We Cannot See as well.

I’m also a big fan of David Mitchell and those two you’ve listed are his best, IMO.
Something like Piranesi by Suzanne Clarke would be a good shout. Maybe Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mantel.

i would take a look at Nick Harkaway. i literally have Cloud Atlas next to me to periodically re-read the Somni chapters, and while not the same, i feel like Gnomon, and the sillier but not totally silly Gone Away World are inventive and sprawling in similar ways.
