I’m (M28) currently struggling with finding a book that my family (F45, M28, M21, M18) can use as our first family book club read. The lowest vocabulary level would be that of a high schooler as my mothers first language isn’t English. With that in mind, I’d love some suggestions that may cover:

-family topics (parents understanding young adults)

    -self help

    -communication

    -young adult sexual experiences

    -finances

    -fiction or non-fiction

An important point: we are not avid readers so maybe something a bit more interesting read to help keep us hooked?

I appreciate all the help in advance!

    1. The Dutch house by Ann Patchett

It Checks all your boxes and the sensitivity and kindness of the end brought me to tears and left me with a warm after glow for days. I read it with my sister and that fits maybe even better than with brothers but it is a universal story about forgiveness. And my first language is German; I found it to be an easy read.

    2. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is an easy read and has a nice classic hero’s journey plot line. Many people enjoy this one
