The difference in my enjoyment of these two books by the same author is SHOCKING to me. Vera Wong was one of my favorite books I’ve read in the last year; I found it so charming and delightful that I gave it 5 stars. Conversely, I am finding Dial A for Aunties insufferable and difficult to get through.
For anyone else who’s read both—did you feel this difference so drastically? I read that Dial A for Aunties was a bestseller and very well received, and it only came out two years before Vera Wong. I’m a bit baffled. Is this just some weird idiosyncrasy with me?
