I'm recently getting into crime thrillers. I was a big fantasy buff but after watching some Nordic noir series on Netflix, I am sorta delving into the books pertaining to this genre. I used to read a lot of Arthur Conan Doyle and Agatha Christie and hence am somewhat familiar with British crime novel. There are of course many ways British crime stories are unique but I was surprised to discover that Scandinavian crime thrillers have a genre in itself called 'Nordic Noir.'
I am curious in knowing if they were somewhat inspired by the British mystery novels and if so then how do they compare to them. For example how does the two compare in terms of setting, plot, characters, themes etc?
