Hello everyone! I'm interested in a book about yearning or longing for the past. I spent the past year in my hometown, attending a local community college, to reflect on some things before heading back to my main university. I hoped I'd improve previous relationships with family members or have a better experience with my hometown but instead I've just noticed how those things have changed and aren't going to change back. It's like learning to let go of the past. It just makes me think about the past and how things felt then and how some relationships with family members felt better in the past but they're not the same anymore today. I just want a book that either describes this feeling, provides a protagonist's perspective on this feeling (either fiction or nonfiction; nonfiction preferrable), or talks about a solution to these feelings. One thing I've thought about it is that it's kind of like these feeling are only our understanding of how things felt in those moments but our new knowledge lets us know that they either weren't that great or there was something greater and as we grow we learn how to achieve something that emulates those feelings but in a positive manner without the negatives that were attached to it in the past. Hope that helps!
