It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.

“Rose Daughter” by Robin McKinley is one of my favorites. It’s a take on Beauty and the Beast, but there is a lot of emphasis on gardening too. It has a dreamlike quality to it, kind of like Howl’s Moving Castle.
