So I’m a huge fan of the Beats, and really enjoy literature that focuses more on characters and people’s day-to-day experiences over a specific genre or major plot. I also really like work written in a stream of consciousness style. Unfortunately everything I’ve read so far in this style has been by men, and as a woman it would be nice to find similar work from a female perspective. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for female authors like this that I could check out 🙂

    1. [Mrs Dalloway](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mrs_Dalloway?wprov=sfla1) by Virginia Woolf is an example of the stream-of-consciousness style.

[Pond](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pond_%28book%29?wprov=sfla1) by Clare-Louise Bennett. Interesting short story collection.

[Cat’s Eye](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat%27s_Eye_%28novel%29?wprov=sfla1) by Margaret Atwood. Pretty much everything by Atwood is remarkable. Also recommend [The Robber Bride](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Robber_Bride?wprov=sfla1)

I quite like Scarlett Thomas too. Our Tragic Universe is a storyless story. Going Out is good too.
