This may be kind of niche, but with Pride month coming up I'm looking for books about queer history, and I'm personally interested in American moral panics – mostly the Satanic Panic of the 1980s and how it's still echoed by modern fringe movements.
That said, I've tried looking for a book where the two topics intersect, but google has failed me. I'm not too picky about genre either as long at its non-fiction. Like, I'd be fine with true crime story – for example, something about the San Antonio Four. There's a documentary about them, but I can't seem to find books about the case.
Ideally I'm looking for something similar to The Lavender Scare: The Cold War Persecution of Gays and Lesbians in The Federal Government by David K. Johnson, which was a good Red Scare + LGBTQ history story.
