I am looking for a relatively light-hearted read that is set in Croatia — could be Yugoslavia, given modern-day Croatia is only ~35yrs old.
I don't mind the genre: could be fiction, historical fiction, science fiction or fantasy (the last two are favourites of mine, but I'm easy). I'd like something that is 350 pages or less, max 400 pages — will be taking it with me on a holiday.
Browsing through this subreddit I found recommendation for The Historian but skimming through reviews, it seems underwhelming.
Last but not least: I don't mind if it's a translation; I don't mind if the author is not a native to that country.
