I like fantasy and SF. I know that technology and magic are really interesting, but I dont really see much that is based on politics and how institutions and lawmakers change the society.
Like in the Hunger Game serie, I would like to see more of how the government is organised and how the leaders are selected. Like how they struggled though the ladders of beurocracy and leadership, and how they maintain the power while dealing with a huge infighting, and how things that seems completely irrational made sense in their point of view.
I like to see things like taxation, the structural changes that the main character makes. Like if it was star wars series, I want to know how the empire organised and managed inter planetary systems. Do they have dedicated paperwork planet? What about the logistics and the law system? My guess is that each planet probably gets a significant level of autonomy, but in that case I dont know how taxation and buerocracy would work between the federal and planetary bodies. FTL travel is pretty expansive and most of cargo ships would probably only need sub light speed travel. That would probably make beurocracy very frustrating, and I want to know what law changes it resulted and how beurocrats manages them.
Most of the times I dont know how these systems would work. And when they describe the bad law or political bodies, I want them to kinda go into the reasoning behind each laws and regulations. Like if the book is 1984, I would really like to know exactly how the war destroyed peoples life, and how the state got control over the remaining people, and what was the reasoning and rationale behind each laws and what kind of infighting they went though, and how they purged their oppositions, and how those shaped the economics and buerocracy. Something like the poliitcal struggles and infightings that happened in Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union would be interesting.
So I want:
A book that focuses in a fictional state's politics and organisational structures such as economics/beurocratic policies and the power structures.
