I have been reading a lot to my 6 year old daughter. She loves the Beast and the Bethany series and the Legends of Lotus Island series. Ideally, something with some emotion, humour, and nothing overly 'girly' or too young. We have read the most of the Dave Pilkey stuff too but that's not really what I'm looking for.
Thanks!

Would A Series of Unfortunate Events be too mature? They definitely have elements of humor and emotion, they’re just fairly dark.
Maybe something by Roald Dahl, Matilda? Or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?
Beverly Clearly – especially the Ramona series.
Mary Pope Osbourne – Magic Tree House series
Laura Ingalls Wilder – Little House series, maybe just the first book or two for now.
Mary Norton – The Borrowers
You’ve probably already read the Wayside Stories collection?
I’ve heard good things about The Uncommoners series but that may be a bit old for her … though they always say read them books above their reading level!
