Why do you read?

What do you want to achieve by reading many books? What kind of genres are you into? Do you enjoy engaging in mental exercises while reading a book?

For me, the reason why I read is because everyone engrossed in their books looks attractive and intellectual. I also like the fact that you can just borrow some quality books for free at the city library. I will be paying my first taxes, soon – I'm in my late 20s and still haven't landed any jobs, tbh – and it would be a waste if I didn't borrow any books as a citizen.
