I’m doing a reading challenge and one of the prompts is “Favorite trope or topic” and I’m having the worst time picking something (I like too many things and I’m super indecisive).
Could you suggest me your favorite trope and book?
Any genre. I’m pretty open to everything.

Morally flawed protagonist whose decisions aren’t always for the better. “Going Postal” by Terry Pratchett.
Someone is punished by being sent to another dimension. “Dogsbody” by Diana Wynne Jones.
I quite like fiction that has comic elements but is an allegory that looks at serious issues.
I would suggest Jasper Fforde’s Constant Rabbit as a good example of this.
Trope: looking for clues in an ancient library/book/archeological artifact etc: examples Possession, The Historian, The Weight of Ink, In the Name of the Rose, Codex
grizzled man becomes a father figure to young child. The Road is a good example. Logan and Last of Us are good examples in tv/movies
Buried evil accidentally awakened by greedy miners, and they have a terrible time of it. Lord of the Rings being the famous example, but Stephen King’s Desperation more thoroughly grounds it in horror.
