Hi everybody, I used to read voraciously in my high school years and really enjoyed it as well. Now I have brain rot from Instagram and need to go back to reading. All suggestions are welcome, especially short fiction with intense plots! Thank you!

My go to book rec for people who want to get into reading is Holes by Louis Sachar because it appeals to all ages, has really short chapters, and is super engaging!

      T. Kingfisher’s Nettle & Bone! Relatively short, interesting characters and engaging!

Vicious by V.E. Schwab is one of my FAVORITE books ever. Morally grey characters with superpowers.

Coraline, Neil Gaiman is always fun to revisit.

I really enjoyed reading Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. Very atmospherically creepy in certain parts.

Hunger Games series, either for the first time or as a reread!

*All You Need is Kill* by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. Military SF. Involves a greenhorn private dying in his first battle against the aliens invading Earth, only to find himself in a time loop.

I would recommend Good Omens by Neil Gaiman, it is one of my all time favorites.
