Explanation of font

Many books contain a paragraph at the end of the book telling the reader which don't was used in the book and a bit of its history. Why do publishers provide this information? How is it relevant to the reader?

There are baby production details they don't say anything about: What is the weight of the paper in the book? What process did they use to bind the book? They say nothing about those other production choices do why do they think that the reader cares about their choice of font?
