I’m visiting Paris and wish I hadn’t already read Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman, would love something weird and gothic to complement my rainy stay in the city!
Edit: also does not have to be medieval per se, but historical would be great! Also enjoyed The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue.

*ASH: A Secret History* by Mary Gentle was good enough that it got me to pick up *Between Two Fires* because it sounded similar (haven’t read it yet, though). Technically more early Renaissance, but it’ll still scratch that itch. The vast majority of the book is given over to this historical fiction story about a female mercenary captain, but very early on some blatantly fantasy elements crop up (but in a way that means they can be easily dismissed), which means that we’re primed to overlook the weirdness that eventually turns into sci-fi. There’s also a more present day storyline that sneaks in in small bursts, conducted via email correspondence. It’s 1100 pages long with tiny text, so however long your visit is you should be covered, and it does a remarkable job of drawing out the day to day adventure of Ash’s life whilst oh so slowly having bigger, more mysterious events unfold. Highly recommended.
