looking for a high fantasy book where the FL's love interest is left as an unknown and the story doesn't feel like the writer simply created the book to be fast tracked into becoming a movie if it ever got popular enough.
I've spent an hour scrounging around in good reads for a good FL that doesn't have a 1 starting at the beginning of their age and the description of the book doesn't reek of a love triangle or "fated lovers" like I just want the romance to be expected but the Romance partner left as an unknown. Like I dont wanna hear about hot guy Liam and how he's tragically kicked out of the royal family's only to be found by the Fl and now they go on and adventure and trials as enemy's, allies and also lovers to fight the big bad or EVEN worse figure out a string murders.
Gritty, witty and real would be cool with some magic thrown in
