I struggle with wanting to sit and read a book, but I want to get back into reading! I don’t get emotionally moved by movies or books easily so I usually gravitate towards the realistic fucked up concepts that make me feel disturbed. The only way I can see me wanting to read is if it’s some mind twisting plot. Suggestions?
Unless you feel it’s very fitting, I’m not looking for scifi or mystery books.

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski (this is a bit of a mystery so maybe it’s out)
Earthlings by Sayaka Murata. It is not sci fi despite the title.
American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis. You said no mystery but The Shards by him was also effed up
