Hello! I have the task of selecting a horror book for my family’s book club, what books do you recommend? Bonus if they’re women writers, or Latin American authors, however not necessary. Thank you!
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia hits all your ideal points.
Personally I wasn’t a fan but looking through the Goodreads reviews there are plenty of people who loved it so might be worth a go for you guys.

*Another* by Ayatsuji Yukito. It can be considered the Japanese *Final Destination*. It’s about a boy who moves in with his maternal grandparents due to his father working abroad and ending up in a class that is acting weirdly.

Vampires of El Norte or The Hacienda fit what you’re asking. I just read Nestlings and although it was written by a man, I would still recommend that one too.
