I am reading through Prince of Wolves by Quinn Loftis and one of the characters is described as smelling like Woods and spice. When you get a vague description of spice does a more specific scent come to mind like pepper or maybe something else? Just curious to see what others think of when they read vague-ish scent descriptions.

for me, that phrase “woods and spice” would make me think of sandalwood and cinnamon scents.
I think of cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg. The types of spices you’d find in a spice cake.
A spice market. You can’t really tell the specific spices – or at least I can’t – because it’s basically a mixture of all the different spices sold at the market.
I am definitely gonna agree with the spice cake. The cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.
But for me when it comes to the woods, pine is what pops in my head.
