I'm going to be teaching war time poetry to grade 10 ELA students in Asia, on the topics of the horrors and honours of war.
Most of the poetry I'm finding tends to range on the perspectives of allied soldiers on the European front.
In an attempt to make things more engaging, I'd like to try and diversify the perspectives to include those from a non Anglo background? Especially from the perspectives of the various countries in Asia that got thrown into a war in which they never had any personal connection to.
Does anyone have any recommended starting points for this?
Apologies if asking for poetry as opposed to novels breaks any of the rules of the sub. Looking forward to hearing peoples perspectives on this?
