So I often have trouble getting into new books because of the characters and their dynamic with each other. It often feels forced or it is to easy to see where their relationship is going. It is one of the reasons I have struggled with romance books specifically. Basically I’m looking for recs with well rounded, well thought out characters whose storys influence each other but don’t dominate the story. I really like fantasy, so preferably something like that though I’m open to other genres as well. The relationships don’t have to be romantic either as I find that well written friendships can be just as, if not more compelling to read. If it is a romantic relationship I really want something where the romance is not the point of the story for the main character/characters. Their friendships and personal goals should come first, it is just more to my tastes. Lgbt recs are more than welcome as well!
