A while ago, I found "Optimists Die First" by Susin Nielsen and quickly fell in love with it. The characters felt real and lively, with unique personalities and issues like they could be real people. The book touched on heavy topics like death, depression, and addiction, but still left me with a feeling of hope. I liked how the ending wasn't super cheery, but felt like the characters were on a path to a better life. I like books with a somewhat depressing tone that also feel real and relatable, as if they could be real events.
Any recommendations for books with a similar vibe?
