A buddy in recovery recommended this book saying it was bar none the most important thing he’s ever read and that I (as “a guy who reads a lot”) would absolutely love it. So I ordered it on Amazon bast solely off this dudes rec. I got about 100 pages in and something just felt off. I didn’t like the ‘prose’ (if you could call it that)…it seemed a little, I don’t know, masturbatory. But I generally like long books and know you sometimes just have to stick with it – plus it’s ’sort-of-true’ right? Anyway, I read up on it a little and I see that people are split 50/50 on this massive tome of a book. For anyone that has read it, is it, in your opinion, worth the time investment? Did it pay off for you? Or should I move to the next in the TBR list (Streets of Laredo)? Thoughts?
