Suggest me a book: I’m a 20 old guy and I really want to get back into reading as it’s been quite some time since I’ve read a book properly. I used to read a fair amount when I was younger but come secondary school, I neglected it a bit and haven’t really read since.
As such I don’t really know what I like if I’m perfectly honest – I’d want something that’s pretty easy to read and engaging just so I can get myself into it. I’d want something with a bit of comedy and a hint of romance, nothing crazy but here and there is nice.
I’m inclined to believe I like adventure stories too as I’ve read Dragon Keeper by Carole Wilkinson and it was one of my favourite books growing up. A friend got me Eye of God by James Rollins during COVID and I really enjoyed it. When I was younger, I was a huge fan of The Hunger Games trilogy, but I think I’d prefer something more uplifting these days – things have been pretty hard for me personally for the last few years so I want something that brings in some positivity and humour.
I’ve seen a few people suggest Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and while I haven’t read or seen the film, I think it gets across the general feel I’d want – something pretty light, humourous and entertaining (I think…) so I’d really appreciate any suggestions that hit similar beats, thanks in advance! 🙂

Good Omens got both me and Husband reading again.
Ready Player One! It’s fast paced; so a good book to start.
Project Hail Mary – It’s an exciting page turner from the beginning to the end. It has some thought-provoking themes but is very easy to read and you don’t have to ponder on any deeper meanings in order to enjoy it.
Six of Crows duology.
(Second book is Crooked Kingdom)
One of my favourite duos to go back to if im in a reading slump.
The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi – funny, zips right along, and really engaging.
Hitchhiker’s for sure, but also Discworld series. Personally, I’d start with {{Guards! Guards! by Terry Pratchett}}
the hitchhikers guide author has another series about a detective dirk gently, thats humorous or you could try something like the motes in gods eye for sci fi or a brandon sanderson book for fiction adventure im reading mistborn currently and its described as oceans 11 but fiction. So far its good.
