I am a newbie to the thriller genre but I owe it so much since it pulled me out of my 4 year reading hiatus.
I loved Pretty Girls, despite the disturbing story. I loved the writing style and structure, and thought the story was executed so well considering the many factors involved. To be fair, I finished it after I read the dumpster fire that is The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose (THAT definitely seemed like it was written by a high schooler, which I’d like to avoid).
I’ve now started The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter and I am enjoying that too, though I’m not sure I plan to delve into her books that are part of a series (Will Trent, etc). I personally enjoy the 3rd person POV of the protagonist embroiled in the crime the most (and I think Will Trent focuses on the cop’s perspective).
I wanted to get opinions on other thriller authors, such as the ones I mentioned in the title. If you’ve read any of their works, how would you rank them against Karin Slaughter? which ones did you enjoy and why?
I’ve read Gillian Flynn too but have never read Lucy Foley, Freida McFadden, or Lisa Jewell. I believe they all fall under the similar umbrella of thriller but please correct me if I’m wrong.
Personally, I love ones that are somewhat dark and disturbing, and leaves me thinking and ruminating in the wake of completing the book. Any recommendations similar to this would be amazing.

I would like to recommend *The Nail Salon* by Natalie Tambini. It took me a couple of days to get over it.
