Before this, Avasarala was my favorite in the series. Never much liked Holden until the last book – Cibola Burn – and even now not very much. Amos, though, was always an amazingly interesting dude even from others' POV.
I'm only through first few chapters and it's crazy the kind of person he is and how he's basically a monster with very few but unshakeable principles. Everyone from his underworld pals to the most powerful person on the planet (Avasarala) wants him as far away, while still trying to on good terms with him. It's funny how he's a ticking time bomb who an underworld crime leader with an army wants to see the back of but doesn't want to antagonise, lol. Add to that how casual he is with everyone (especially Avasarala) and he might be one of my favorite characters ever.
