I said series because I haven't read the book yet (if this relationship is true to its source material, let me know and I will read that too). I want to read more about female characters dynamic that's quite complex. Like here, I read them as very destructively symbiotic, have genuine love for each other and best interest in each other with the present moment and not long term (but surely not malicious). Kind of codependence but also a bit more tender. Doesn't have to be mother/daughter relationship!

*In a Dark Dark Wood* by Ruth Ware
YMMV, but all feature female relationships that are genuinely loving *and* pretty fucked up.
The Neapolitan series by Elena Ferrante hits the nail on the head of what you’re looking for. Follows the complicated relationship of two women growing up and throughout their lives in corrupt postwar Italy.
