I’m looking for an emotional book series where the books only get better as you go.

I don’t read many series, because it seems like the first book is always the best and they go downhill from there. Please change my mind on this and send your best recs where the books get better and better through the series. Or at least stay on the same level as the first.

I am looking for any genre except YA and fantasy. Some romance is ok, but I don’t want it to be the main plot of the books.

I don’t care how long the series is.
