Can be either genre and/ or both.
Something contemporary, realistic (no fantasy/ sci fi/ supernatural), well written, good character development, and intense so it's gripping, whether in the intensity of the love story and feelings if romance, or as a thriller.
I really enjoyed Colleen Hoover's Verity as it had both aspects, but It Ends with Us and Ugly Love were both fairly disappointing, kind of primitive cliche writing and predictable plot.
Other authors I've enjoyed have been Frieda McFadden, Lisa Jewell, Sally Hepworth, Jodi Picoult, Catherine Ryan Hyde, Jennifer Weiner. Some stuff by Kristin Hannah too but not all. Please tell me what to read next, thank you!
