We are a small group of readers who have enjoyed reading and discussing books online for some years. We have an online book discussion thread which is obviously 'open' 24/7, and we also meet on Zoom every three weeks or so to talk about our current book.
Our focus has usually been on fiction dating from about the 1850s to 1950s, including literature in translation, with occasional forays into non-fiction, and even the odd play (Beckett, Brecht) to spice things up a bit. Some of the authors include: Nabokov; Henry James; Katherine Mansfield; Olivia Manning; Stendhal; John Reed… We are thinking about reading Balzac and/or George Sand when we start up again in September.
As we meet online, members can live anywhere on the globe; of course when it comes to a Zoom meeting, we have to allow for time zone differences.
We presently have four active members–two men and two women, over age 50.
It would be great to have another couple of readers join us, but I don't know how to find them. I have posted on Facebook with no results. Is it our reading material–the Oldies–that is no longer appealing? Thoughts anyone?
