This novel of crime, corruption and denizens of Savannah society, high and low, is a good bet for those who loved MIdnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and who want to scratch that itch. Of course this is fiction vs. non-fiction, but it contains many of the elements that made MGGE a bestseller in its day: It has-both a historical mystery and murder, a wide range of characters and local settings ranging for historic homes, charity events, deep swamps, homeless camps, bars , jail and underground tunnels where we meet movers and shakers, corrupt officials, vagabonds, and disfunctional families.
Green has written only five novels over more than 30 years but they have all been well received with at least wo being made into well-regard movies-The Caveman's Valentine and The Juror, . He has away with a suspenseful tale and this is no exception.
